An introduction to Bhutan with a short, flexible and relatively gentle tour providing a general impression of the land, the people and the history.
It starts from Paro valley home to many of Bhutan’s oldest temples, where stories of Guru Rimpoche and Shabdrung Nawang Namgyal, Bhutan’s most celebrated historical personalities, will become increasingly familiar as we visit several fortress-monasteries that stand powerful symbols of the nation’s history, moving onwards to the unique capital city of Thimphu and crosses over to ancient capital of Bhutan, Punakha where on clear day will reveal folds of hills rising toward distant snow-capped Himalayan peaks and to the glacial valleys of Phobjikha where Black-necked cranes roost in winter months.
One can also experience a camp stay followed by a beautiful trek along an ancient route that nobody has known for so many years!.
PM free time in Paro town. Alt. 2200m. Overnight stay in Olathang hotel or Namsey or equivalent.

AM hike to Taktshang monastery( round trip take 5-6 hrs). After lunch at the cafeteria, return to Paro and visit Kyichu temple and Paro Dzong.

AM drive to Thimphu and visit Buddha statue, Memorial Chorten and Changangkha temple. After lunch, visit textile museum and free time visit handicraft shops. In the evening after office hours, visit Tashichhodzong. (day time visits allowed only during weekends and Gov. holidays). Distance – 55 kms/1 hr. drive. Alt. 2300m. Overnight stay in Riverview or equivalent.

AM drive to Dochula pass and descend to Punakha valley and visit Punakha Dzong. After lunch, drive to Phobjikha valley and visit Gantey monastery. Overnight stay in Dewachen or Yu Loke or equivalent.

AM drive to to Kumbu village and trek to Gechela (pass) and further up to Thou la passm at 3780 meters above sea level. Follow the ridge amidst various rhododendron trees/alpine flowers (3100m) and then descend to Rhukhubji valley at 3025 meters. Camp at Tushita café. 10-12 kms kms/5-6 hrs. trek.
Options:– Those who do not want to trek can go by car/coach and wait for the group at the camp site.

At 06:00am view sun rise and visit cattle herders camp. After breakfast, drive to Thimphu and then to Paro. Distance – 195kms/5-6 hrs. drive. Alt. 2200m. Overnight stay in Olathang or Namsey or equivalent.
